Saturday, May 10th (9:00am-12:00pm) "GUAM SBDC"Double Entry Bookkeeping using Quickbooks (Part II of II)"" Presented By the SBDC: (Part II of II) This session is offered only to those who attended Part I of II, “Double Entry Bookkeeping Using Excel”. Small businesses that handle a large number of sales or want a more efficient way to track Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable may possibly need a computerized bookkeeping system. Utilizing the example from Part I, this session guides the student through the process of setting up the same company using QuickBooks Simple Start Edition 2005. This will be a hands-on session lasting three hours. A maximum of 10 laptops are available for use during the session. The seating capacity is only 18 so please sign up early. A fee of $25 is charged for this session. Friday, May 23rd (9:00am-11:30am) "GUAM SBDC - Introduction to Financial Statements – The Basics (Part 1)" Presented by Guam SBDC: There are three core measures of business performance that everyone in business or planning to go into business must become familiar with: the income statement, the balance sheet and the cash flow statement. This seminar will introduce participants to the core accounting principles that are the foundation of preparation of business financial statements, explain what each statement can tell you, and also point out its limitations. Finally, through a series of case study examples, participants will learn how these statements are related, and what a change in one statement will trigger in the others. At the completion of this seminar, participants will know how to both read and understand business financial statements. Friday, May 30th (9:00am-11:30am) "GUAM SBDC - Introduction to Financial Statements: Financial Statement Analysis (Part 2)" Presented by Guam SBDC: Sound financial control relies on analyzing and drawing appropriate conclusions from business financial statements. Participants will be guided through both vertical (fixed time interval) and horizontal (time series) methods of analysis, and key ratios will be defined and explained. Participants will then review several business case study examples from different industries, and participate in a group discussion on the different ratios and management conclusions that can be drawn. Participants in this workshop should first take the SBDC’s Introduction to Financial Statements workshop, or already know how to both read and understand business financial statements.
